This Week on Top 5 Restaurants
Indochine Waterfront

Asian Civilisations Museum, The Historic District
Phone # 65 6339 1720

IndoChine Waterfront Indochine Waterfront is spectacularly placed just down from the head of the Singapore River. It sits with an almost arrogant view of Singapore’s thriving expat hangout at Boat Quay. Littered with colored lights, the view across the river is in stark contrast to the colonial elegance of Indochine, where diners relax in open air glory sheltered from the throng but still part of the action albeit, somewhat more elite.

The mixture of French and Vietnamese cuisine expertly served amid an ambiance that is very cleverly created. Little nuances that seem of small importance go a long way to making dining at the restaurant a wise decision. Such as their naming of dishes being in both Vietnamese and English and the short history that goes with some of them. Such as the exotically named, Goi Vit Nha Trang or (Duck and Mango Salad) and for a touch of tradition we get to know that both the Viet people and Laotians will wait for the Mangoes to grow fat and juicy and then find a matching duck before preparing to serve this dish.

The extensive menu is balanced with an even more extensive selection of wines and top shelf spirits and a more than a little know how when it comes to providing excellent service. And don’t forget to try the Vietnamese coffee.

Indochine Waterfront rightfully steals the spotlight.

Ras

#01-05A Block 3D Clarke Quay River Valley Road
Phone # 68372800

RasWhen you get to Ras, there’s only one thing to do: Drown in authentic, delicious North Indian flavors.

And who are we not to oblige? There’s Ras' Tandoori Prawns (Note: prawns are bursting with flavors and don’t just take our word for it), Chicken Tikka, Chicken Nawabi Korma, Ras' Lamb Vindaloo and traditional offerings of butter chicken and palak paneer. Even Ras' vegetarian dishes can even stand on its own.

Living up to its name, (which means essence) Ras delivers the goods. It might look a bit intimidating with its upscale, posh appearance, but the superb food is the star of the night. It’s just an added bonus that you can dine alfresco overlooking the scenic Singapore River.

Ras starts the fire for an evening set to blaze. Just make sure to call for reservation.

Iggy'sThe newest entry in the list is Iggy’s which clinched the number one spot in the in the new Miele Guide of Asia's Top 20 restaurants. The Miele Guide is Asia's first independent restaurant guide launched in 2008.

Iggy’s certainly waved high and mighty the Singapore flag over other high end restaurants in Hong Kong and China. But lest we forget, Iggy’s already has its share of recognition. Iggy's has been voted in the UK Restaurant Guide as one of the "Top 100 Restaurants in the World."

Restaurateur and award winner sommelier Ignatius Chan is an acclaimed wine expert who supervises the culinary direction of the kitchen in close collaboration with his young brilliant head chef, Sufian Zain, who had a stint in San Sebastian under the tutelage of Elena Arzak at Restaurant Arzak.

At Iggy’s, you’re bound to be impressed: Its intimate and counter dining setting offers an up-close view of how the food are prepared, and it is as breathtaking as savouring the menu itself.

Make sure to order the char-grilled Wagyu beef and while you’re at it, complement your delightful dinner with a glass of wine or champagne.
