This Week on What to See

Butterfly Park & Insect Kingdom

From the intricate designs of butterfly wings to the lively luster of fireflies, any fear that you might have on insects will vanish instantly once you step into the Butterfly Park and Insect Kingdom. And dear, you’ll only be facing off with whimsical minuscule creatures, so buckle up and say hello to the little wonders of nature. With all the magical oddities, this can be fun! It’s a good value for a $10 admission though you might find the place a little crammed at times as this place can be very popular.

Getting There

Take the Sentosa Bus from Seah Im Interchange (just next to Harbourfront MRT station), and transfer onto the Blue Line bus. Alternatively, take the Sentosa Express from VivoCity Level 3 and alight at the Imbiah Station

Jurong Birdpark

This place scores big points right away for accessibility for tourists, with air conditioned monorail, it's a saving grace for those who are just too lazy to walk, or just want to take a breather. The air con alone is hard to resist. Go for the Penguin Parade, but it’s the hawks and eagles that capture the imagination of the visitors. Parrots and parakeets can be hand-fed by visitors at the lookout and the train ride will get you all the way around the park in about 8 minutes. Not bad for 20-hectare property of magnificently landscaped home to over 9,000 birds representing over 600 species.

Night Safari

A unique experience not to be missed. As the sun sets, a different world comes to life. At the Night Safari, you can look a rhinoceros in the eye, hear the howls of a pack of striped hyenas or watch giraffes glide serenely across the plain in the still of the night. It’s the world's first wildlife park at night. No one has been eaten yet, but then how would we know? You can be unlucky with the weather, so check your weather forecast on the DC2Go before you head off.

Singapore Zoo

One of the world’s truly great Zoos. Visited year-round by tens of millions it really doesn’t need an introduction. Get your photo taken with endearing orangutans, feed the kangaroos, or get splashed by seals. There’s plenty of action with over 2,530 animals where you can get up close and personal. So, take a walk on the wild side with a Singapore Zoo adventure. It’s a great day out not to be missed when you’re in Singapore. And it’s a big favorite with the kids with lots of stop offs for splashing around for fun and games, which makes this a great way to spend a Sunday. And surprisingly affordable.

Underwater World

An ultra-cool 83 metre-long tunnel that showcases majestic rays, fearsome sharks and great shoals of other fishes, and a Dolphin Lagoon, a glimpse of how you can unravel the mystery of the sea at Underwater World in Sentosa. Though a bit over-priced, seeing the sea turtles will make this trip worth checking out. Also a little dark in places so the elderly may need a little help with the conveyor belt.
