Bardavon Opera House

The Bardavon Opera House was constructed in the year 1869, and since then continues to be one of the leading venues for operatic performances in the city. Plays, dance recitals and music concerts also take to the stage here. Apart from these seasonal events, Bardavon organizes several major festivals through the year, such as the Hudson River Arts Festival and the Kids Expo.

It's been more than twenty five years now, since a concert was first performed at Carrier Dome. Events like Figure Skating Champions Tour, Block Party and SU men's Lacrosse games have been held in the past. The pious lot would like to know that this was also the venue for the Billy Graham Crusade. So far, almost 1,740 events have taken place here. This venue is more popular as an arena for Heavy Metal concerts than for sports. Nile, Deicide, Over Kill, All That Remains, Today Is The Day, God Dethroned, Despoilment, Withered Earth, and Impaler are some of the bands that have played at this venue. There is no minimum age barrier for entry, but you need to be over 21 to consume alcoholic beverages. The box office opens an hour before each performance.

Newark Symphony Hall

This structure is termed as the 'oldest exponent of fine arts and entertainment' in New Jersey. Set up in 1925, it was initially called the Salaam Temple and was renamed Newark Symphony Hall towards the late 70s. The exterior of the building is laced with huge imposing columns, whereas the interior is designed in Egyptian and Greek styles. Luciano Pavarotti, Sarah Vaughan, Marian Anderson, Lily Pons, the Boston and Cleveland Symphony Orchestras, and the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo have performed at this venue. It has a 2,800-seater hall, a 1,000-seater Terrace Ballroom, a 200-seater box theater and a dance studio.
