Phil Becker has hand shaped more than 100,000 surfboards in his lifetime almost twice as many than any other shaper in the world. He has created boards for the past 40 years and is a well-respected names in the business. The store also carries everything else a surfer needs, whether you are going out for your first or your thousandth ride. There are three other locations in Mission Viejo, Corona del Mar and Malibu.

Open since 1953, Dive n' Surf is a fantastic shop that caters to scuba divers and surfers of all levels of expertise. Twin brothers Bob and Bill Meistrell, the owners, went on to creator the Body Glove wetsuit. You can find a great selection of these suits in the shop. Dive n' Surf also carries a full line of beachwear and casual clothing. Whatever your needs, even if you are not into surfing or diving, check out this historic store.

When they say 'Just do it!', they probably mean come in and experience Niketown, as it is a store like no other. In this two-story, high-tech megastore, Nike commercials and sports events alternate on three large-screen TVs, and a variety of pavilions feature everything from Nike all-condition gear to men's and women's fitness apparel. Of course, you cannot possibly miss its famous running shoes. While the staff is hip and helpful, the merchandise is truly the star of this show.

 
Occhi Eye Boutique

This upscale eye wear boutique shows you how to look cool without overdoing it. Step into one of their outlets to be spellbound by the collections and sheer volume of spectacles, glares, contact lenses et al. Ungaro, Trussardi, Vivienne Westwood, and Burberry designs stare at you from within the display, alongside of lesser-known brands. Free parking is available for an hour.

 
Pier Surf

Located just a short walk from the Hermosa Beach pier, this shop will outfit you with everything you need for a day in the waves. You can rent a surfboard for $10 an hour. You will also find wet suits, surf wax, body boards and many other items to make your surfing experience a memorable one. In addition, the staff at Pier Surf can recommend good surf instructors. Whether you are a beginner or a pro you will find what you need to "hang 10" in the California sun.

In the 80s Dennis Jarvis designed the first Spyder Surfboard in Hermosa Beach for his own use on a professional world surfing tour. He took his passion for surfboards and started his own company that now produces one of the premier lines of surfboards and equipment. In addition to the existing line you are welcome request a custom board to meet your needs. Spyderboards also sells all the relevant surf gear. Check out their second location, also at 65 Pier Avenue, called Spyder II.
