Blind Robin
Website Details  Map
853 North Western Avenue
Full of young hipsters, this bar used to be the place to be for those Vertigo fans. However, if you're having trouble recognizing the place, thats because it has recently been remodeled and features an entirely new space (that is, if you've never been to Lava Lounge on Damon Avenue.) There's no food here, so make sure you grab something before your night of drinking. If you need a snack, there's some peanuts and chips if you ask the bartender. They are the ones that run the music too, so if you have something in mind just give them a shout.

Buffalo Theatre Ensemble
Website Details  Map
425 Fawell Boulevard
Playwright David Mamet lent this theater ensemble its name when he wrote American Buffalo and the productions here are organized under the roughshod shadow of that writer's naturalistic and puritanical brand of storytelling. The home of the BTE is the Harold D. McAninch Arts Center at the College of DuPage, where it is led by Artistic Director Craig Berger. While public transportation is not readily accessible, it may be worth your while to take Metra's Union Pacific line to Glen Ellyn, then catch a cab from there.

Bungalow Lounge
Website Details
1622 West Belmont Avenue
Whether its the red-lighting or just plain truth, this place looks good. In 2006, Esquire actually voted this place one of the best bars in America. Each night there are various DJs to keep your spirits up along with drink specials. This place specializes in martini's, with the Pumpkin Martini being a favorite.

Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University
Website Details  Map
1 University Parkway
After a 10-year, $2 million community fund-raising effort, this 1,200 seat auditorium opened in December 1995. These massive funds, along with $6.2 million in state matching grants, have produced an excellent venue that has showcased the diverse talents of performers like the Flying Karamazov Brothers, Paula Poundstone and the Chicago Jazz Ensemble with Kurt Elling. Resident companies include The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra, The Park Forest Singers, The American Dance Center and The Suburban Youth Symphony. Plenty of free parking space is available.

Crimson Lounge
Website Details  Map
333 North Dearborn Street
Upscale drinking and ambiance. If you're driving, you might want to consider taking a taxi. This place gets pretty packed on the weekends so it can be hard to find a parking space. Valet is also on hand if you get too frustrated. Don't worry about drinking too much, the bar is located in the Hotel Sax if you need a place to crash.

Drum & Monkey
Details  Map
1435 West Taylor St.
At this pub you can find any number of sports fans here watching a game or two while catching up with friends and enjoying a pint. The decor is retro with black and white newspaper clippings and vintage postcards, all with a European flair. The Drum & Monkey also provides a wide selection of better quality "pub food" that will keep you satisfied during halftime. Their full bar serves up a variety of beers and cocktails to their twenty-something and thirty-something crowd while keeping the energy high with friendly bartenders and waiters.

Emmett's Tavern & Brewing Company
Website Details  Map
128 W Main Street
Emmett's Tavern & Brewing Company brings back nostalgic memories of a time when taverns were the hub for all travelers. Gulp down the award winning beers that are brewed here. The menu is extensive; from Cedar Plank Whitefish to the Roasted Rack of Pork, you name it and they have it all. Participate in the events that take place occasionally; from Irish nights to beer tastings, it's fun!

English
Website Details  Map
444 North LaSalle Street
Chicago's English gastro-pub is the ideal destination for a beer on your lunch break or an after work cocktail. The owners are veterans of the bar management , with favorites like The Central Union Park, Grand Central, and Bar Celona already on their resume. Like its predecessors, English is sure to impress. English is set in a historical building on LaSalle Street, with three levels for dining, drinking, and lounging. With its neighborhood sports-bar ambiance, feel free to play a game or two of pool.

Evil Olive
Website Details
1551 West Division
Judging by the closing time of 4a, raging private parties, and the variety of olive-floating mixed drinks, you wouldn't think the Evil Olive is technically just a neighborhood bar. With weekly specials such as half-priced specialty drinks and fun events, this bar is worth checking out; if not just for a stuffed olive or two.
