A celebration of the art of film making, the Illinois International Film Festival seeks to exhibit the many different varieties and forms of contemporary film today. Held in the classic Arcada Theater, you enjoy feature films, documentaries, animation, short films, experimental work by students, micro budget, or even big budget films. No matter what this festival will satisfy your viewing needs. The yearly programs also exemplify an eclectic mixture of different genres, and both the lover of comedy and horror will leave satisfied. Every summer, the Ravinia Festival offers the finest in the performing arts at suburban Ravinia. The Chicago Symphony Orchestra makes its home here from June to September during the festival. Popular artists of all kinds appear, including Yo-Yo Ma, Los Lobos, Tony Bennett, the Joffrey Ballet and Lyle Lovett. Sit on the spacious grounds and enjoy a picnic (pack your own or buy one at the many excellent establishments on premises). Be forewarned though, lawn seating does not provide a view of the performance.
